So, you and your partner have decided to get yourselves a doula, WELL DONE! Now you might be asking yourself where to begin to look for one. Meeting anyone for the first time can be challenging. Here are some questions you can ask your potential doula.

Why did you decide to become a doula?

Have you attended any formal training?

Tell us about your journey since you became a doula?

What support can they provide you during pregnancy and birth and after birth?

How would they support you decide should you decide on a c-section or VBAC labour?

Do they have any birth experience of their own?

If you have a partner, how would they support both of you?

Where are they located

What are your extra mural activities?

When picking a doula, you must choose someone you can be comfortable with, remember this is a sacred time for you and your partner. You will need someone you can relate with and have a mutual understanding about birth, and you need someone that will listen to you and guide you through. I wish you all the best in choosing your doula.
