What we can do for your garden

About Us

My Introduction

Hey there! I’m Faith (Freckleface),  the simple things in life make me happy

_

I enjoy getting my hands dirty and taking care of the environment. My aspiration is to share my journey with like-minded women, moms who love the similar lifestyle or want to adopt a new hobby by sharing with you cost effective, simple solutions that I use for my crafts and vegetable garden

Introspection

I would like to believe that, I am an introvert

_

It’s very important that I mention that I would like to believe that am an introvert and would do anything to shy away from the spotlight or anything that involves me talking about myself, so this is very much awkward. However, it wouldn’t hurt to share with you about who I am, and where I come from, what informs my life’s decisions and why I chose this way of life.

My Background

I am an African lady,  born in Limpopo Province South Africa

_

In my younger years I moved around a lot staying with relatives for stability as my parents are not married and they had to go work. In my teens I was a chubby somebody with little to no self-esteem, largely because I stuttered and still do to this day (Well especially when am anxious or angry so I prefer not to talk when am angry because words don’t come out) and I was also teased a lot for my freckles. As much as I wasn’t living with my parents, they always maintained constant communication a day wouldn’t go by without me talking to either of them. Let it be known that I am the apple of my fathers eye (he too is grows his own food) Its true when they say a girls first love is and will always be her father. My mother and I apparently look like sisters, she is my confidant and my spirit guide, she sees right through me.

Personal Life

In my personal life I am a mom to three beautiful girls  with two-year gaps between them all who have turned to be my personal assistants in the garden

_

who also happen to learn through their taste buds like eating soil, what matters is they are still alive RIGHT? I am a life partner to my very supportive partner Nyiko (he plays a very important part in our garden sometimes I think he does all the hard work and I just cook the food sound like a fair deal don’t you think?). I am a lifetime student always learning something new. I am Environmental Health graduate and recently completed my BA Honors Degree in Environmental Management. Currently I work full time in the Coal Mine Tailings/ Materials Handling industry as a SHEQ specialist. I recently qualified as a Birth Doula through Wombs under the guidance of my personal Child Birth Guru Dr B Hanrahan.

Gardening time

When am not in the garden or getting  my hands dirty and sticky with craft paint and glue gun

_

my partner and I love to indulge in some serious outdoor activities we do lots of hikes and biking whenever we can get some parental visa (our first holiday as a couple we got lost in Magoebaskloof Mountains whilst on a bike ride). Felt like we were on the AMAZING RACE, and we had to see if were compatible for each other, well it’s been 7 years going strong. Only by Grace.

One of passions aside from gardening is being a helping hand for women in labor, give birth to their precious babies. Its an out of this world experience that is sacred.

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I am very sarcastic and love to laugh at silly things, sometimes I get myself in trouble for laughing when am not supposed to.

Growing Vegetables

How did I find myself growing  my own vegetables, crafting, and blogging?

_
Two life events contributed to this. Firstly in 2006 I lost my maternal grandmother to breast cancer, she raised me for the first couple of years of my life as my mom had to go work. Now we all know what its like being grannies baby SPOILED for days. However, seeing her sick and not being able to “fix” the situation I decided to do some research on the causes of breast cancer besides genetics, diet also played a contributing factor. I remember at one point I went vegetarian, but it didn’t last long but over the years I would go on manifestos that I thought were good for my health.
Funny story when I met my partner, I made him a beef burger and he was like I don’t eat red meat, I looked at him in amazement LIKE A WHOLE ENTIRE AFRICAN MAN DOES NOT EAT RED MEAT (NO OFFENSE TO MY AFRICAN BROTHERS) but it was shocking for me, so when we started our family we did away with red meat and we now consume poultry and fish with the aspiration to go full on plant based.
